The Five F’s to Moving Forward in St. Charles

I love a good F word

Here are the Five F Words To Moving Forward in St. Charles I hold nearest and dearest to my heart, my core values that shape me into who I am today, and who I am aspiring to be tomorrow.

Faith in St. Charles

Faith – Regardless of religion, I have unwavering faith in something bigger than me, bigger than all of us. I am an eternal optimist, sure that things will work out one way or another.

Fitness – taking care of myself so I can take care of others is one of my core values. I cannot sacrifice my well-being, otherwise, there is no way to get done all the things for all the people who need me each day. That includes working out in some form or fashion most days. Gym time (hello CrossFit!), yoga at home, going for a walk, going for a run (weather permitting…it is so not my favorite thing), really anything to get my blood pumping and endorphins going. It’s important to me that my kids see me making these choices each day, even when it is not easy. In fact, I drag my kids to the gym with me several times a week before school/work in order to get my workout in (single mom life!). It’s not about the scale, it’s not about how our bodies look. It’s about being healthy and strong, mentally and physically! Fun fact – at one time I stayed home with my kids part-time when they were super little, and become a certified group fitness instructor through FIT4MOM to help moms reclaim their identity and focus on themselves with fitness, nutrition, social support, and community. I LOVED that time in my life, and still carry much of that training with me into my day-to-day life.

Family – oh boy, family sure is a mixed bag at times, isn’t it?! Regardless of how your family shows up in your life, or how you define your family or the friends who have become your family by choice, being surrounded by unconditional love and support is a true blessing. I do my best to show up every single day as the best version of myself for my two boys. They are wicked smart, full of energy, and go full steam ahead from the time they wake up till the time they go to bed…so this mama has her hands full! But they also have HUGE hearts, BIG feelings, and are truly each other's best friends. They are at the core of the decisions that I make day in and day out.

Friends – dare I say I have the very best friends in the entire world?! I am so blessed to have an incredible support system, both locally and all over the country. I understand not everyone is wired to be as extroverted as me, and that is so very much ok. I have found that I do need to have a solid group of friends to lean on in my darkest moments, those who get it and get me and love me judgment-free no matter what. Those are the kind of friends that stick with you through the many seasons of life!

FITFO – Figure It The F*ck Out. Whatever “it” is, we will figure it out. This too shall pass. We’ve got this. The right answer will emerge. Keep going, there is a way to figure this out. You get the overall idea here, right? There is no obstacle too big that we can’t figure out a way to overcome, or work around it, or remove it from our path. Holding tight to that mantra has carried me through some incredibly stressful times, and hasn’t failed me yet!
